Club Information and Mission Statement

Mission Statement: To promote model aircraft building and flying as a family oriented hobby, to freely and openly share what we have collectively learned and experienced, and to provide an enjoyable, friendly and safe environment for our fellow hobbyists and guests.

Since our start, Radio Control Sport Flyers has always helped to get the community and individuals more involved in model aircraft of all types. If it's building Delta Darts with the Girl Scouts, helping get food donations for Harvesters or simply a static display in a mall or church, our club is willing to help. We also offer Open Flight Training to all those interested. Open Flight Training nights are every Tuesday and Thursday night during the summer months, so grab your plane and head to the field! Please visit our Pilot Training page for additional information on flight instruction.

Stamm Field

In 1984, RCSF made its home at Stamm Field which is located in the southeast corner of Longview Lake Park (Grandview, Missouri). The field was named after the late Dick Stamm, a well-liked member who found time to help other fellow modelers. Stamm field has both a glider field on the west area and a powered aircraft field on the east side. The grass runway dimension is 100 feet by 400 feet running north and south.

Longview Lake Park is owned by the Corp of Engineers and operated by Jackson County Parks and Recreation.

Directions:

  • From Highway 71 in Grandview take the Main St. Exit.

  • East on Main (Main will change names a few times)

  • South (right) on Sampson (3rd 4-way stop sign).

  • Entrance to the field is on your right just over a mile on Sampson.
